BIENNIAL MÁRIO SILVA PRIZE 2023
This 7th edition will be
itinerant with exhibitions in Figueira da Foz, Coimbra and Cantanhede -
Portugal
REGULATION
The present
regulation provides information on the submission of works of art and
participation in the itinerant collective exhibition. We accept all artistic
expressions as Digital Art; Urban art; Ceramics; Design; Watercolor, Sculpture,
Engraving; Graffiti; Painting; Tapestry; Design; Photography; Video;
Installation… entitled “Biennial Mário Silva Prize”, as a tribute to the
plastic artist Mário Silva.
SUBMISSION OF ARTWORK/S
The works must be
submitted by email at: asociacion.aaagp.pt@gmail.com – until April
20, 2023. The submission of works must contain the following elements: -
image of the work with its references (Title; Technique; Dimension -
height/width, price - Document “Registration form” filled up)
DEADLINE
The works must be
delivered by April 25, 2023. They must arrive properly packaged -
accompanied by the respective Registration Form - and in conditions to be
transported and displayed.
The
works must NOT be signed on the front, just identified on the back.
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
Painting – Works must
be presented between a minimum of 60x80 cm and a maximum of 1.20 m wide by 2 m
high.
Drawing and Watercolor
– The works must be presented in the dimension 50x70 cm.
Photography –
Photography works must correspond to the proportionality of 50x80 cm.
Sculpture – Sculpture works can be in any material and do not have mandatory dimensions, but if they weigh more than 40 kg, they must be transported and handled by the author.
OPENING
The exhibition will open on May 6, 2023, at the Center of Arts and Entertainment - Zé Penicheiro Room, Figueira da Foz at 4:00 pm, and features musician Pedro Pinto. The exhibition will be open in the aforementioned space from May 6th to 28th, 2023.
AWARDS:
The Jury is made up
of five elements linked to the Arts: two from the AAAGP; two from CMFF and the
son of the late artist Mário Silva.
The Mário Silva Prize
will be awarded to the artist whose work has been selected by the jury. This
prize consists of €500 (five hundred euros) accompanied by a trophy worth
approximately €100.
The winning artist
will be invited to hold an exhibition of his works – in the year following the
award at the Center of Arts and Entertainment.
In each edition,
other relevant prizes will also be awarded:
1st Gold Mention – a gold
medal and a Diploma
2nd Silver Mention – a silver
medal and a Diploma
3rd Bronze Mention – a bronze
medal and a Diploma
The four awarded
artists will receive a Diploma signed by the President of the Jury and by
Conceição Ruiva, President of AAAGP.
The Prizes will be
handed out during the inauguration of the collective exhibition, on May 6th, at
4 pm.
All participants will
be entitled to a Certificate of Participation, signed by Conceição Ruivo,
President of AAAGP.
PARTICIPATION
To participate in
this exhibition context, you do not need to be a member of AAAGP – Associação
da Amizade e das Artes Galego Portuguesa. Each artist will be able to
participate with 2 works of art.
The registration fee
is €50 (fifty euros) for each work/work presented - The second work has a 10€
discount. Payment will run until April 20, 2023, as follows:

Participants will
benefit from:
- Diplomas and
Certificate of Participation in the event;
- Paper and digital
catalogue (only at the end of the exhibition)
- Roll-on publicizing
the event;
- Promotion leaflets;
- Transportation of
works to the site, assembly and disassembly of the exhibition;
- Reshipment of
works, at collection, to their recipient;
- Communication and
dissemination of the exhibition;
- Exhibition opening
cocktail
- Assistance in the
sale of the work - realization of the sale and delivery of the work;
- The AAAGP association will endeavor to acquire works by other entities, not retaining any percentage of them.
CONDITIONS
The works cannot be
removed or replaced, under any pretext, before the closure of the itinerant
exhibition until December 31, 2023. After the closure, the works must be
removed from the initial reception location until the end of May 2024. Works
may be sent back to their author, at charge, as long as they are requested.
It should be noted
that in case of withdrawal, the amount spent will not be returned. Only in case
there is plausible justification through documentation. Even so, 30% of the
amount paid reverts to the organization, to cover the expenses incurred until
then.
The Organization is
not responsible for damage, loss and theft or for unforeseen situations.
However, the utmost care will be taken in handling the works and in welcoming
them.
The Organization
reserves the right to deliberate on cases omitted in this Regulation.
